Abstrak
Fokus artikel ini adalah upaya apresiasi teologis terhadap Maria guna memperkaya teologi Reformed. Penulis berargumentasi bahwa hal itu dapat terjadi dalam tiga cara berikut: (1) Maria adalah teladan iman yang utama, seorang hamba Tuhan yang ideal, dan mengandung makna sebagai ibu dari semua orang beriman; (2) Maria mengingatkan kita tentang kesetiaan Allah kepada orang-orang Yahudi dan menangkal ajaran sesat gnostik; (3) Maria adalah simbol kekristenan yang sering disalahgunakan, tetapi dapat dimanfaatkan dengan baik karena refleksi tentangnya membantu menghindari pendekatan sepihak akan posisi perempuan dan menumbuhkan refleksi Reformed tentang gender. Pembahasan masing-masing aspek ini didasarkan pada eksegesis suatu bagian Kitab Suci dan mempertimbangkan satu aspek dari tradisi teologis.
