Bernard Aubert

Bernard Aubert merupakan penyelia jurnal Unio cum Christo. Ia pernah menjabat sebagai dosen tamu Perjanjian Baru di Farel Reformed Seminary, Montréal dari 2010 hingga 2018. Ia mendapat gelar Ph.D. pada bidang hermeneutika dari Westminster Theological Seminary di Philadelphia (2007) dan gelar sarjana dan magister pada bidang teologi dari Faculté Jean Calvin in Aix-en-Provence (1993, 1995).

Abstrak

Artikel ini membahas metode penafsiran alkitabiah John Calvin (1509–1564). Pertama-tama, artikel ini mempertimbangkan pendekatan Calvin dalam konteks sejarah penafsiran, dan kemudian menelaah dua contoh metode penafsirannya terhadap Mazmur 2 dan Kisah Para Rasul 20: 17–38. Artikel ini mengusulkan bahwa pendekatan Calvin dapat memperkaya pembaruan minat dalam penafsiran teologis di dalam akademi dan gereja. Meski sejumlah ciri penafsiran Calvin menyerupai pendekatan modern, esai ini menegaskan pergeseran dalam studi Calvin yang mengklasifikasikan metodenya sebagai jenis penafsiran precritical—khususnya, perhatian Calvin terhadap penerapan, penggunaan analogi iman, dan integrasi eksegesis dan doktrin.
