Doni Herwanto Harianja menyelesaikan studi Magister Teologi (M.Th) dari STT Reformed Injili Internasional pada tahun 2021. Setelahnya, penulis menjadi pelayan penuh-waktu di GRII. Saat ini, dia ditugaskan melayani di GRII Kertajaya, Surabaya. Minatnya dalam riset mengenai gereja dan misi membuahkan beberapa artikel jurnal ilmiah yang dapat diakses di Verbum Christi: Jurnal Teologi Reformed Injili maupun Societas Dei: Jurnal Agama dan Masyarakat.

Abstrak

Penelitian ini hendak menganalisis konsep kovenan menurut pemikiran Johan Herman Bavinck dalam menyikapi situasi keragaman agama yang ada di Indonesia. Dalam pengamatan penulis, situasi keragaman agama di Indonesia masih menjadi polemik. Keberadaan pemeluk suatu agama dianggap sebagai suatu ancaman bagi pemeluk agama yang lain. Relasi di antara pemeluk agama cenderung menimbulkan sikap curiga. Tidak hanya itu, dalam kaitan dengan agama, manusia juga cenderung tidak dapat berpikir jernih dalam menyikapi situasi yang demikian. Penulis berpendapat bahwa persoalan identitas kemanusiaan dan akal budi di tengah situasi keragaman agama di Indonesia dapat dimediasi dan dipahami dengan konsep kovenan. Karena itu, penulis hendak menunjukkan bahwa konsep kovenan dapat digunakan sebagai kerangka berpikir untuk menghayati hidup sebagai orang Kristen di tengah keragaman agama di Indonesia dan juga untuk menyikapi kondisi intoleransi di mana ketidakadilan dapat muncul di masyarakat.
